Once upon a time......
This is usually how fairy tales begin. Who now thinks of the Snow White town of Lohr - our home town?
Ok - it's not about Snow White. This story goes back further and it is not a fairy tale (probably).
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago - Adam and Eve lived in Paradise - after eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, they became mortal and cast out of Paradise.
The European translation speaks of an apple that Eve gave to Adam. In the original version it is not explicitly an apple, but rather a fruit. Considering the origin of the story and the shape of the fruit, it's actually safe to assume that this apple wasn't a Granny Smith, but rather a pomegranate. This wonderful fruit is popular throughout the Orient and often appears in patterns and motifs on carpets - such as this beautiful Afshar carpet from southeast Iran. It was made by the nomadic Afshar tribe near the town of Sirjan more than 50 years ago. The trees in the middle of the carpet represent pomegranate trees - trees of life.
