Exclusive interior design rug, hand-knotted from wool and real silk.
Our collection of high quality design carpets is made in Nepal, Kathmandu by excellent knotters. In order to achieve the perfect look, we looked for old women in small villages who can still master the art of hand spinning. This has not been common practice in the carpet industry in Nepal for a number of years. As a result of the hand-spinning, the wool is given an irregularity in the yarn thickness, which is what gives this rug its special look.
In this piece, the finest matka silk from China was combined with Tibetan highland wool. The purple motifs consist of 90% silk and 10% wool. The gold-colored background consists of 60% wool and 40% silk. The different yarns were spun together in order to achieve the incomparable appearance of these carpets. The gold-colored outer edge of the carpet consists of so-called loops.
The feel is particularly soft and fine thanks to the use of the finest materials. The carpet is approx. 12-14 mm high.
