In general, Zollanvari carpets from southern Persia can be roughly divided into 6 groups: Gabbeh (normal quality), Sherkalu (slightly finer), Amalehbaft (medium fine quality), Kashkouli (modern graphish, very fine quality), Loribaft (traditional designs interpreted in modern style) very fine quality) and Bolourbaft (Loribaft designs in particularly fine quality with exquisite wool quality).
This rug comes from the Bolourbaft collection and is simply a dream. Fine, hand-spun Persian sheep's wool from the Zagros Mountains was dyed with natural plant colors. Zollanvari operates its own dyeing plant, which exclusively dyes the best wool from Persia and makes it available to the weavers. This ensures a consistently high standard in dyeing and processing the wool.
The motif of this piece is a well-worn floral repeat with roses. The motif is a modern interpretation of the "Gol Farang" pattern, which is known for Persian rugs from Senneh, Sanandaj, Afshari and Bidjar and Caucasian rugs.
The finishes of Zollanvari carpets usually have no fringes but a stitched kilim edge.
