Carpets and rugs from the Khorasan region are known for their decorative, dark red. The color is often referred to as oxblood red. It is typically found in Meshed / Mashad, Bidjand and Kirman rugs. Semnan is a small village near Meshed. The pieces made there are finer and more subtle in pattern than the more commercial rugs from Mesched.
The condition of the carpet is excellent. The pile is high, the side borders are in their original condition and the fringes are also in very good condition.
