Afshari or Afshar rugs are among the semi or semi-nomadic rugs.
The nomadic tribe originally from the Caucasus was settled in Persia long ago. Afshari live today in Kurdistan around the city Bidjar and for the most part in the southeast of Persia in the region Kerman. The main trading centers where the weavers sell their carpets for resale are the cities of Kerman and Sirjan.
Afshari carpets are usually available in large accent rug size - between 170 x 120 cm and 240 x 170 cm.
The pile is made of wool, the basic fabric of cotton.
The patterns reflect the living environment of the people - often you find trees of life, animals and stylized people as a motive. The typical colors are blue, red and ivory. The node density is between 90,000 and 250,000 knots m².
