Rare Persian rug from the region around Chahar Mahal / Bachtiari. Armenibaft carpets are made by Christian Armenians in Persia. Especially in the Central Persian city of Isfahan and some villages in the Bachtiar region are settled by Armenians. Armenibaft = translated "knotted by Armenian" are relatively rare and usually have excellent quality - as well as this piece. The wool is hand-spun, dyed with natural colors and rich in shine.
The carpet 14625 Armenibaft was knotted in the 1960s, the knot density is about 6 x 4 Turkish knots per cm / approx. 240,000 knots per m². The carpet is in excellent condition, it is full pile, the hand-spun wool was dyed with natural colors, the fringes on both ends of the carpet are in very good, newly secured condition, the side borders were repainted on both sides. He has no restored areas, the wool is particularly bright due to the gentle coloring of the wool.
The pattern bears clear influences from the Bachtiari carpets of the region - both in color and in design. Very unusual is the border with the birds and the trees of life. The theme of "tree of life" runs through the entire piece - both in the border and in the field as well as in the corner solutions, there are magnificent trees of life.
