Oversized rugs in our collection start at roughly 10x13 ft (about 3 x 4 m). Palatial / palace-size rugs begin around 11x14 ft (about 3.4 x 4.3 m) and reach true monumental dimensions – up to grand palace formats and, on request, bespoke sizes well beyond.
What Counts as an Oversized or Palatial Rug?
Oversized rugs start at about 10x13 ft (3 x 4 m); palatial / palace-size rugs from about 11x14 ft upward. Typical formats include 10x13, 10x14, 11x14, 11x15, 12x15, 12x16, 11x17, 12x18, 13x18, 14x16, 15x20, 16x20 and 13x21 ft, alongside long gallery formats such as 8x16, 8x18 and 10x17 ft. We also carry large rugs and true palace sizes above this range.
Why Choose an Oversized Rug?
A large room looks even more generous with a single decorative oversized rug anchoring it. An extra large area rug pulls the space together and comfortably fits a full dining table or several sofas – ideal for adjoined rooms and open-plan living, where one palace-size rug can unite a joint dining and living area. All-over (rapport) designs with a repeating pattern – florals or the classic Mahi (Herati) motif – work beautifully across big open areas, while a medallion design is the better choice when the room is built around a central seating arrangement.

Antique palace pieces come from the great oversized-weaving traditions – Sultanabad, Mahal and Ziegler, Kerman, Tabriz, Heriz and Serapi, Agra and Oushak – while our contemporary and designer weaves suit modern and minimalist interiors. Our rugs are physically in stock and ship worldwide within a few business days, fully insured. Our largest pieces currently in stock reach 14x28, 21x25, 18x22 and 16x20 ft.
