What is a Beni Ourain Rug? ​

Moroccan Berber rugs are produced in North Africa. Beni Ourain carpets are often white or cream in the basic color with a brown or black diamond pattern. Beni Ourain in in gray or black are less common. Since the rugs are made entirely of wool, they have a soft, almost lobed handle. The pile threads are between 1 and 3 inch long. This makes the carpets very cozy and fluffy. The geometric design enchants with its subtle elegance. The modern-looking designs had their first heyday in the 1970s, when European interior designers recognized the beauty of these unique carpets.

What carpet sizes are there at Beni Ourain rugs?
Traditional or real vintage rugs from the Beni Ourain tribe are long and narrow. Often, formats were 12 x 6 cm to 17 x 7 cm. Since these sizes do not correspond to the western rooms, modern Beni Ourain rugs are knotted in many formats for export.
In the trade you can find carpets in 5 x 3 ft, 6 x 4 ft, 7 x 5 ft, 8 x 6 ft, 10 x 7 ft, 8 x 11 ft, 12 x 9 ft, 13 x 10 ft and oversized rugs up to 17 x 13 ft. Runners are found in 10 ft up to 20 ft in length. We specialize in oversized Beni Ouarain carpets.
