13357 Loribaft rug Iran / Persia 8.1 x 5.4 ft / 247 x 165 cm
Loribaft rugs are knotted by the Lori nomads in Southwest Iran by hand. This nomadic tribe belongs to the Bachtiari tribal group. The carpets are graphically patterned, the hand-spun wool comes from the slopes of the Zagros Mountains and is of exceptionally good quality. To dye the wool, natural dyes from plants / plant colors are used. The node density is medium fine.
This rug was made by a village cooperative. Aghamiri - the manufacturer of these unique items - had to stop production due to the difficult situation in Iran. For years it has become increasingly difficult to find high-quality wool and natural colors. Most traditional carpet production villages are populated by an aging population as young people migrate to the cities to find education and work. Carpets in this quality are almost no longer produced today.
