Tapi Contramott
Tapi Contramott moth protection spray - also against carpet beetlesHow do I protect my wool carpets from moths or carpet beetles?
Tapi Contramott fights the clothes moth (Tineola bisselliella) - it is a nocturnal butterfly and part of the true moth family (Tineidae). As moths, moths are approximately 2 cm long and have a bright, shiny color.
Moths lay 100 - 250 small, white eggs in fur or textiles made of wool and other animal hair up to four times a year during their active period, from which yellowish maggots then hatch. These maggots feed on wool.
Moths can cause enormous damage to textiles. Especially with high-quality, genuine carpets, moth damage can result in complex and expensive restorations.
Carpet and Rug beetles: When the eggs are laid on carpets and household fabrics, the larvae feed on the animal fibres and make holes in the materials. Exhibits in museums may be eaten away, leaving a powdering of fine dust round dried insects in collections; herbarium specimens may also be consumed. Human skin that comes into contact with the discarded larval skins may develop dermatitis. Good hygiene and regular vacuuming may prevent infestations from happening. Small items can be placed in airtight containers to keep the beetles out, and both heat and cold treatments are effective against the larvae and eggs. Tapi Contramott will kill all beetles and eggs.
In addition to regular carpet washing with moth protection equipment, we therefore recommend the profilactic use of Tapi Contramott to prevent infestation by moths or carpet beetles in your carpets.
