Nain Rugs from Persia – Exquisite Craftsmanship in the Finest Quality
Nain Persian Rugs are one of the most renowned and sought-after types of Persian carpets.
Known for their fine details, harmonious designs, and high-quality craftsmanship, they reflect centuries-old Persian rug-making traditions. These carpets are produced in the Nain region of Iran and are distinguished by their exceptional quality and durability.Fineness Grades (La) – Defined by the Number of Threads per Weft
The fineness of a Nain carpet is determined by the number of threads in a weft (La). The thinner the thread and the lower the La number, the finer and more detailed the pattern:
4 La – Very fine with extremely delicate patterns. This quality is especially popular among collectors and connoisseurs of exquisite craftsmanship.
6 La – Very fine with high durability and intricate detail. Perfect for living spaces with elegant decor.
9 La – Fine and highly durable. Suitable for areas with high foot traffic.
12 La – Robust and long-lasting, ideal for heavily frequented areas. The patterns are clearly visible but less finely detailed.
Materials – Wool and Silk
The choice of material influences the appearance, feel, and durability of the rug:
Wool: The traditional material for Nain carpets. High-quality wool provides softness, elasticity, and natural color absorption. It is resistant to wear and gives the rug a warm, vibrant appearance.
Silk: Used for particularly luxurious versions. Silk imparts a unique shine, fine details, and a delicate texture. Silk rugs are usually more expensive and are valued mainly as decorative objects or collector’s items.
