Good condition for age, freshly washed. Some dyes where made using ironoxide. This results an oxidation of the wool and these dyes have worn more than the rest of the pile. Pile is uneven in height as a result. |

What is a Gashgai / Qashqai rug?
Quashqai or Gashgai is a nomadic tribe living on the slopes of the Zagros Mountains in the Fars region of southern Persia. The carpets are named after the tribe.
What is typical of Qashqai carpets?
Qashqai carpets are almost always made in the same color scheme. The inner field is red, the border is blue or brown. In the center is a medallion surrounded by stylized animals and plants.
Are Qashqai carpets durable?
Although the knot density in Quashqai carpets is rather low, they have a good to very good durability due to the high-quality and shiny wool.
