Meshed carpets, also Mashhad (Persian مشهد), Mashad or Mashat, have typical traditional designs that fit many interior styles such as European, Mediterranean, vintage and midcentury.

The origin of Mashad carpets lies in the Orient, in the Persian city of Mashad in the east of Iran.
Mashad is the second largest city in Iran and is known as a religious center. For people of the Shiite faith, Mashad is one of the most important pilgrimage sites, as the shrine and grave of the eighth Imam Reza is located here. Over 20 million believers visit Mashad every year. Therefore, a rich production of hand-knotted Persian carpets has developed for a long time. The qualities range from relatively coarse carpets with poor quality wool to rarely fine silk rugs. The Amoghli and Saber manufactories are particularly well known for their rare fine work. Typical for Mashad carpets is a floral, filigree pattern with flowers and tendrils with a central medallion - usually in a round shape. The classic color composition shows a red outer border, a blue main border, a red inner field and a blue medallion as well as blue corner motifs in the inner field. The red color of mesh carpets is reminiscent of burgundy red. 
This carpet is of significantly better quality than many pieces from more recent production. It has a very high-quality wool pile, a dense yet soft pile and an elegant shimmer. The pigments in the colors are of natural origin.
