Tulu or Tülü rugs are traditionally rugs with long pile threads. The air between the fibers insulates very well against the cold ground, which is why Tulu carpets were the typical sleeping and sitting carpets of the nomads. The finest material was used for this carpet, it has a shimmer like silk. Several weft threads are woven between the knotted rows with knots. This technique creates a gap that allows the pile threads to lie on top of each other like roof tiles, creating the isolating effect.
