Our collection of high quality Tibetan Designer rugs is made in Nepal, Kathmandu by excellent artisans. In order to get an organic look, we specifically looked for old women in small villages who can still master the art of hand spinning. This has not been common practice in the rug industry in Nepal for a number of years. Hand spinning gives the wool a certain irregularity in the yarn thickness, which is what gives this rug its special look.
In this piece, the one ply real silk combined with 2 ply Tibetan highland wool in one yarn. This gives the surface a wonderful shimmer.
The feel is particularly soft and cozy thanks to the use of the fine materials. The carpet is approx. 1/2 inch / 12 mm high.
