Bakhtiar Soumak saddle rug old, vintage, hand-knotted, hand-woven and hand-embroidered.
Old, nomadic Bakhtiari rugs have impressive motifs and natural colors that suit many interior styles such as European, Mediterranean, vintage and midcentury.
Bakhtiari carpets are made by the nomadic tribe of the same name, the Bakhtiar (also Bakhtiari) in southwestern Iran. Various motifs such as medallions, fields, trees of life and gardens of paradise are typical. The colors are often of mineral or plant origin. This piece was used as a horse blanket under a saddle. The rug combines three methods of carpet production: it is partly knotted, woven and embroidered (soumak).
A really rare collector's item.
