Large rug in the style of antique polonaise rugs.
This beautiful rug originated in rural Afghanistan, where it was hand-knotted by tribal weavers. The pile material is handspun wool that has been dyed with vegetable and mineral pigments. The motifs are made of silver-colored bamboo silk. It is of excellent quality with a subtle sheen and elegant organic colors. The design comes from ancient Persia. The style of this rug is known as a polonaise pattern and is typical of antique rugs from the Safavid Dynasty in the late 16th century. The motif was adapted to today's furnishing requirements.
We produce these rugs in collaboration with rural cooperatives in Afghanistan. The carpet is Label STEP certified.
Label STEP is committed to good working and living conditions for people in the production areas of hand-made carpets, especially the weavers, fights abusive child labor and is committed to promoting ecologically compatible carpet manufacturing processes.
